We are casting youth age 14-20 for various roles in the film, as well as a few other characters. Here is a sampling of some of them:

[FRANK] 14 at the start of the story and 15 by the end. His mom is Mexican, dad is White. Atypically handsome and charismatic. Carries an extra amount of angst for a kid his age. He is impressionable, damaged, almost paranoid, lacks love and guidance, although some of his innocence is still intact. In search of belonging he turns to punk rock, radically changes his look, and becomes a marked outcast. The Los Angeles punk scene of the 1980's becomes a dangerous haven, fit for a ticking time bomb.

[YOUNGBLOOD] Also 14 at the start of the story and 15 by the end. He is the Huck Finn to Frank's Tom Sawyer. The sort-of class-clown, outgoing, an instigator and fire starter. Youngblood is from the same low-income neighborhood as Santino but his dysfunctional family's a bit closer to middle-class. Youngblood's mother tries to buy her son's love to compensate for her emotional abuse. Rebellious behavior and violence come natural to him. Youngblood is down for anything, just looking at him, you know he's going nowhere -- fast.

 

[SANTINO] is 18 years old Chicano and hyper-alpha. He's lived in the same low-income, So-Cal neighborhood since birth. His block is hemmed-in by active, old time, lowrider gangs. He's the manipulative leader of a punk rock gang and puppet to his father who pulls the strings. He's old-school, direct and to the point in all situations. Santino is confrontational, and gets off on power and ultraviolence; he loves it more than girls.

 

[GODFATHER] THE GODFATHER is somewhere in his mid-late 40s, light-skinned Mexican and father to Santino. He is your classic East LA Veterano mustache and all. He has an air of someone who is living the gang life por vida. When he walks into a space, he owns it. The Godfather's home is headquarters for all neighborhood gang activity. The young cholos and punk rockers look up to him and ask his advice on gang matters. Gangbanging in East LA since the olden days carries big time respect.

 

[DONNA THE DEAD] a quick tempered 15 year old, with a dyed jet-black Chelsea-Girl hair cut. One of the only girls in the gang, she has vicious bouts of violence as though she's half-rabid. She's a Runaround-Sue who's hooked-up with all the guys in the crew, but no one really holds it against her.
